Day 3 Sep 1: Labor Day

Vandaag heb ik gewandeld tot aan de kruising van de 'South Platte River' en 'Cherry Creek'. Daar is Denver trouwens ontstaan toen ze er goud gevonden hebben in de 19de eeuw. Ik heb er een trolley genomen die langs de South Platte River reed en terug. Tijdens de rit heb je ook een goed zicht op het pretpark Elitch Gardens.

Today I walked to the place where Denver was founded in the 19th century when they discovered gold: on the crossing of the South Platte River and Cherry Creek. I took a trolley that rode along the South Platte River and back. During that trip you have a good view of the amusement park Elitch Gardens.




Daarna ben ik gaan shoppen in REI, een megagrote winkel met benodigdheden en kledij voor avontuurlijke activiteiten (een soort van grote AS Adventure). De winkel was ook op diezelfde plek en is gelegen in een gebouw dat ze destijds als energiecentrale gebruikten voor de trams. Dat maakte de winkel speciaal. Langs de rivieren zijn fietspaden en hier zijn dan ook erg veel fietsers te zien (overal in de stad trouwens).

Afterwards I went shopping at REI, a superlarge store with everything you need for adventurous activities. The shop was situated at that crossing too and is housed in a historic tramway powerhouse building. That's what makes the shop special. Along the rivers are bike paths and so you can see loads of bikers here (everywhere in the city btw).



Na al dat shoppen ben ik in The Cheesecake Factory gaan eten op 16th Street. Dit is een mooi restaurant met fantastische bediening en de meest uitgebreide menukaart die ik ooit gezien heb, waaronder anderhalve pagina kaastaarten. Hier raad ik ook aan een kijkje te nemen naar 2 foto's die ik ervan genomen heb. Wanneer starten ze een vestiging in België?

After all that shopping I went to eat at The Cheesecake Factory on 16th Street. This is a beautiful restaurant with fantastic service and the most extended menu I have ever seen, including 1,5 page of cheesecakes. So here too I suggest you take a look at the 2 pictures I took. When are they going to start their business in Belgium?



Tot slot heb ik gewoon nog rondgewandeld in de omgeving.

After that I just walked around in the surrounding area.
