Today I took the train to Katoomba. It was a 2-hour journey and was only a bit over $12, while the train from the airport to Sydney lasted 13 minutes and was $2 more… Katoomba is a village in the Blue Mountains where YHA has a hostel. I could walk from the station to the hostel. At first sight it is even better and prettier than Sydney, the YHA as well as the Blue Mountains. Lots of tourism and yet it remains calm here. At first I got installed and then I went to the shop. They have another Coles supermarket here, but it’s even bigger then Sydney’s. The shop is open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. until midnight. This time I tried mango bars. Handy for taking with you on a walk. I left the mango cheesecake for some other time. Afterwards I went for a walk in Katoomba itself and to Echo Point where you can see The Three Sisters, 3 rocks in the Blue Mountains. It is rather tiring walking around here with the steep streets. The hostel has loads of facilities again: lockers in the rooms, internet, kitchen with everything you need, washing machine, dryer, clothes line in the garden and washing powder, a garden obviously, terrace, TV/video lounge, pool table and loads of information about the surroundings and other YHA hostels. And this for just 14 euro a night per bed. Of course the question is how many of these do you use with so much to do around here.

Katoomba / Blue Mountains
Nu weer mango in reepvorm geprobeerd.
