So yesterday was Australia Day. I went to Commonwealth Park. In the morning they had a free breakfast: white sandwich with sausage (from the barbecue) and bbq sauce or ketchup, whole pieces of fruit, thee or coffee. Afterwards there were several formal festivities. It became very warm, so at noon I escaped to the shopping mall and cinema. Afterwards I went back to the park and walked around a lot. There were stands with food, souvenirs and activities for children. Nice atmosphere, but not enough to keep me occupied until the fireworks (9 p.m.). So I went back to the cinema. Earlier I couldn’t choose between Seven Pounds and Slumdog Millionaire, so this way I saw them both.
Today I went to the National Museum of Australia. Modern museum! After that I booked the bus journey (Greyhound again) to Melbourne and 5 nights at a hostel. The ride takes 8 hours and will be during the night from Thursday to Friday. Saves me a night’s hostel, but whether I will be able to sleep…
Now I will be starting contacting farms near Melbourne. Afterwards I am hoping to go to Tasmania.
About the temperatures: these days it is 36 degrees celcius in Canberra and in Melbourne it is 40 degrees. Luckily they have airco at most places.
